During your session

Will I be able to ski / board on my own without an instructor?

Unfortunately not. All sessions are with an Externally and internally qualified ski or snowboard instructor.

They will give you tips and tricks along the way helping improve your riding!

How long will my session be?

Our group sessions are one hour long, however you will only be skiing or boarding for 30 minutes during that hour.

Please see other questions for detailed breakdown of your session.

*Should you wish to ski or snowboard for a full hour then our Private Slope hire can accomodate this for you.

How many other people will be on the slope with me?

A maximum of three adult skiers (or two adult boarders during a snowboarding session) are permitted on the slope together at any one time, supervised by an instructor. Up to four juniors are allowed on the slopes together during a ski session (up to three juniors during a snowboarding session).

*All skiers and boarders are matched by age and ability.

I am an advanced skier or boarder, Can you help?

Our slope adjusts to whoever is on the slope in speed and gradient. We regularly teach many advanced skiers and boarders.

We strongly advise, if you are an advanced skier or boarder of any age booking into a session, to book in an intermediate session for your first time to allow adjustment to our slopes and allow our expert instructors to assess your ability on our slopes.

This technology is used worldwide for teaching people of all abilites.

I'm completely new to skiing and snowboarding, Can you help?

Absolutely our slopes are suitable for all abilities and Chel-Ski is one of the safest learning environments to start in. With a bar at the front  to hold onto / adjustable speed of the slope to your ability and constant supervision from our trained instructors

How long will I ski / snowboard for?

During our standard sessions, customers are normally split into two groups with each group having approximately 30 minutes of slope time. Slope time may be divided into two periods of 15 minutes or three periods of 10 minutes.

What happens at the end of the session?

Your instructor will assess how well you progressed and recommend what course or package is best for your next sessions, giving you a progress book.

Feel free to stay a little longer and treat yourself to a well-earned refreshment in theAlpine Baror chat to our staff about your experience!

Please see reception about booking your next visit with us!

Are there any disability restrictions in skiing at Chel-Ski?

Working in partnership with Snowbility and Disability Snowsport UK we are encouraging the opportunity for snow sports for all. We offer Private 30-minute Sessions with 1:1 coaching for those with disabilities. This has included learning disabilities, such as autism, as well as a wide range of visual and physical disabilities. If you feel you could benefit from our adaptive lessons, or have any additional needs, please call and speak to a member of our team who will be able to help find the perfect session for you.

Is there a minimum age restriction?

For group ski sessions, the minimum age is 5. For Snowboard sessions 8 years old is the minimum. Prices for Children start from £34.95 per child

We can cater for 3 and 4 year olds, but only as part of a Private/ 1:1 lesson. Prices for a private session start at £225.

What equipment will I need?

We will provide you with boots, skis / snowboard and helmets (helmets are mandatory for any child aged 12 and under). If you have your own boots, feel free to bring them along but please don’t bring your own skis / snowboard as they need to be fully de-waxed to work on our specialist slopes (our slopes are revolving astro turf mats, watered frequently to make them a suitable surface for skiing and snowboarding

You will need to bring ski socks (or suitable socks) with you for when you wear the ski or snowboard boots for comfort and hygeine reasons. If you do not own any we do sell socks onsite at reception.

What clothes should I wear and do I need to bring anything else with me?

You can come in jeans and a T-shirt if you like, but we do put water on the slope so you may get a bit damp! We advise you wear a long-sleeved lightweight top and loose-fitting trousers (tracksuit bottoms are ideal).

For hygiene and safety requirements at Chel-Ski we will not allow anyone to wear our ski or snowboard boots without wearing a SUITABLE SOCK. Unsuitable socks include ankle socks / sports socks / socks that do not cover the length of a ski or snowboard boot. Ski Socks can be purchased at reception should you require them.

We'd recommend you bring a jumper with you and during colder months you may wish to wear warmer clothes. You won’t need a hat, gloves or goggles but feel free to bring these if you want to; some people like to wear gloves in case they fall on the carpet. There are changing facilities including a shower.
